I meant White Tie & Tails or Dinner Jacket for the Gentlemen, and Ball-gowns for the Ladies

Because we have not only dumbed down, but we have dressed down. Nobody dresses up for anything anymore, unless we are forced to. Years ago, a gentleman would not have attended the opera unless he had a tux on, and if he had box seats, or orchestra circle, definetly he would have had a tux. And the ladies would have had floor lenghth gowns, and a fortune in furs and jewelry on. Sad.
