need to find a short BM dress with a thick sash?
I have a few different dresses picked out for BM dresses, but figure it can never hurt to find others. I’m having a hard time finding just what I need from a google search. I need to find BM dresses like the two below… http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_detail.jsp?stid=2656&prodgroup=110

but, I need shorter dresses. I know I could always just have them hemmed, but it would be easier to just find a dress like this. The part of the dress I am particularly attracted to is the sash. I want the dresses to have a thicker sash. The theme of my wedding is along the lines of a japanese garden type of feel, so the obi sash works really well. Anyway, anyone know of any dresses like what I need? And another question…the reason why I am looking for shorter dresses is because I am having a summer wedding, would a long dress look out of place in a summer wedding(ignoring for a moment that people will probably be too warm)?
I think a long dress at a summer wedding is fine. I know of at least two of my friends getting married this summer that chose long dresses. If you’re worried about temperature, maybe try to steer toward lighter fabrics (though, admittedly, satin seems to make more sense with a asian-themed wedding)? But even that isn’t necessary, especially if most of the wedding is inside. You’re wearing a long dress, aren’t you?
Secondly, if you do have your heart set on a particular dress, but it happens to be longer than you want. Please seriously consider getting it, and having it hemmed. I understand the desire to have as few alterations as possible, but unless your bridesmaids are VERY tall, a tea-length gown will probably be longer than you want it to be, and they’ll have to have it hemmed anyway. I’m 5′6″ (about average height), and I’ve never had a bridesmaid dress that I didn’t have to have hemmed. I even bought a dress that was supposed to be knee-length, and I still had to have it hemmed to fall just below my knee.
Also, you should be able to tie that obi sash with any sash on a dress … just take a look at how it’s tied on a dress that already has one tied in person, and you can do it yourself. It might be easier if you can find a brooch or something (like in the link you saw) to finish it off, but I hardly thing that’s necessary.
But, that said … a couple of ideas…

My beautiful wedding! That's what I wanted to create, but how to do it with a very small budget. I wanted the wedding, everything to look a dream wedding, but instead was to be held in a tatty, little room lacks any trace of romance.
What to do, where we could afford was nothing special. Is the local community hall. I did ballet, brownies and guides, all the magic that could have left the place years ago. It is still used for groups children and classes for the day. The place smells like feet!
Enter my friends, Netti, Susan and Anne. What a wonderful group, I no idea it would be so clever. Not only open a new world of possibilities, but also took the ideas and ran with them.
Netti color had the idea of theming the project wedding. We went to the university library and started looking through magazines color. That was fun, I do not know what that color choices can change the whole look of a hand. Finally we found a color theme for the wedding. I was going to be, the background color "ivory", with a main theme of the "flower of maize Blue with a contrasting color 'thistle' to put everything off!
Lucy, web browsing my friend went to investigate how get the colors in the room without breaking my bank recently. She found a Web-based company could rent ivory chair covered by only two pounds each. What brilliant idea, so simple and so effective. I never thought about hiring chair covers but they were covered chair to make a dramatic difference appearance Total wedding.
Susan had the idea of buying 10 meters from the plain of market clearing and dyeing "the Blue Corn Flower 'to decorate the chair covers. As this became his wedding present to us, now I have 50 blue strips across the cut and hemmed. The kindness that made all the difference. The chair covers were inspired, but President strip was covered with the icing on the cake!
The rental company deck chair, were very friendly and helpful and happy to supply and fit the chair covers, in time for the day with beautiful sash. They were also very efficient in collecting the covers after the big day, I did not have to worry about anything.
The chair covers completely transformed the place. The careful choice of colors means that the eye was drawn away from the room and toward the table and the wedding breakfast.
The chair covers and belts together the colors of my flowers and the dresses of the bridesmaids. Also made subtle lilac pink roses with ice on the wedding cake look beautiful. The chair covers and sashes transformed the sad place in my dream wedding breakfast. Always remember the romantic and special occasion. This demonstrates what a little ingenuity and a lot of friendship can accomplish together!
