Can you dye a white Taffeta prom dress?

I saw this dress that is REALLY on sale at a bridal store and it is beautiful but it is white, and looks almost like a wedding dress. I was wondering if you can dye a Taffeta dress. The lady at the store said no, but after doing some research online, it looks like it depends if it is silk taffeta or nylon. The dress is made by Precious Formals. Does anyone know if the Taffeta they use can be dyed?
