Will fondant stick to buttercream and stay?

Its my first time making a 2 tier cake, icing it entirely in buttercream and decorating and trimming it with fondant pieces. I have quite a few small fondant flowers that will be put on the sides of the cake. Will they stay without sliding down the cake? Is there a trick?

I made butterflies out of rolled fondant for my daughter’s bday cake a few years ago. The cake was iced in buttercream. There were lots of butterflies on the cake and I didn’t have a problem. I made the butterflies about 2 days ahead of time and they were fine. I recommend putting your flowers on the cake when you ice it. Good luck and relax.
